Angela visited Tameside College to speak to students and staff at Construction Open Day.
The annual event is designed to keep employers in the construction industry aware of key changes in the sector, including funding for Apprenticeships.
Visitors took part in demonstrations of tools and equipment from leading suppliers to the sector as well as meeting students in skills shows.
Tameside College students will soon be able to take advantage of a state-of-the-art construction site, which is due to open in August 2020. The £10 million centre will provide leading training technology for a growing construction sector that requires a diverse range of skills. Plans for the new facility were available for viewing.
Construction Open Day is aimed at employers. It gives Tameside College the opportunity to find out what job providers really need. They have been able to tailor initiatives for employers such as the Pathways to Construction fund through this event.
Local and national employers attended breakfast and lunchtime briefings where expert speakers told them more about funding initiatives such as Pathways to Construction and Apprenticeship levy funds.
The investment in the new construction centre shows Tameside College’s commitment to developing a top class workforce in the construction sector.
