Angela was delighted to join in with Diwali and Hindu New Year celebrations at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Ashton.

The New Year (Annakut) festival at the venue in Russell Street attracts visitors from across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Yorkshire and is one of the largest of its kind in the North West region.

Angela attended the Raj Bhog Arti ceremony before meeting volunteers and enjoying a celebration lunch.

She said: “I had a fantastic time at the BAPS temple in Ashton with my local Hindu community celebrating Diwali. I am a very lucky MP to represent such a wonderfully diverse community. It’s a great honour to be asked to join in the festivities.”
