Angela visited the Chess Club at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel R C Primary School in Ashton to speak to Year 5 pupils about their newfound love for the game.

The girls and boys are enjoying regular visits from the Chess in Schools group who aim to improve educational outcomes and social development through enjoyment of the world’s oldest game.

Angela said: “I was so impressed with the chess skills on show and it was no surprise to me that I was defeated in my first few games! Chess is a game that can be played by everyone regardless of their age, gender and ability so it’s a great way to bring young people together.”
