Angela was delighted to be invited to meet staff and visitors at Age UK in Ashton to see some of the excellent work they are doing.

The centre, in Katherine Street, is a haven for older constituents who can access a range of groups and services that will help and support them.

Blokes and Brews is a weekly group for men which gives them a chance to get out of the house and socialise and the 131 Club offers participants a home cooked meal and the chance to try new activities.

As well as the fun and social activities, Age UK also provides services such as affordable footcare, a mental health support service and a legal advice clinic.

Age UK also run Walking Warriors, a regular group walk which gets older people active and socialising in the fresh air. This helps to keep them fit and combats loneliness at the same time as well as giving them chance to see more of the community in which they live.

Angela was treated to a lovely hot brew before she sat down with members of the 131 Club to discuss local issues.
