Angela visited The Anthony Seddon Fund on World Mental Health Day 2025 as part of the group’s ongoing work to engage with and talk to as many people as possible about mental health support and suicide prevention.
Volunteers also showed Angela video highlights of the Baton of Hope event which saw Tameside participants complete an eight mile walk which started at the group’s centre in Ashton town centre and concluded at Stalybridge Civic Hall.
The Baton of Hope tour, which started in Blackpool on Sep 1 and ended on October 10 in London, was founded by two fathers who lost their sons to suicide and decided to spark real change by making suicide prevention a national priority.
Angela said: “The Anthony Seddon Fund was set up by Anthony’s family after he tragically died by suicide in 2013 when he was just 30-years-old. They are close to marking their 10th anniversary and I have always been inspired by the way the family have turned their personal grief into a movement for change. The compassion and hope they give to those who walk through their doors seeking help and support is truly remarkable.”
