Angela met with representatives from Royal Mail to seek clarification on how they are going to address ongoing problems with mail deliveries across Ashton, Audenshaw, Droylsden and Dukinfield.
Royal Mail accepted the issues raised by residents and outlined a series of measures being introduced by the new leadership team at Oldham Delivery Office (which serves Angela’s constituency).
The new measures include:-
– Getting mail sorted earlier – increasing staffing for sorting letters and parcels so they are ready for delivery colleagues earlier each morning.
– Strengthening management – prioritising recruitment to fill a vacant management position, with interim support in place in the meantime.
– Recruiting more staff – continuing recruitment to fill vacancies, improve staffing levels and ensure more delivery routes can be covered reliably.
– Working with staff representatives – reviewing working patterns with the Communication Workers Union (CWU) to improve efficiency and create sustainable arrangements for the future.
Angela said: “I will continue to press Royal Mail for improvements and monitor progress to ensure constituents receive the reliable postal service they rightly expect. Please report any issues with mail deliveries to me by email at angela.rayner.mp@parliament.uk. Your experiences will help me hold Royal Mail to account.”
